I'm a Kentucky licensed auctioneer. Recently an illegal auction started up in my area. (Carroll County) I, along with other auctioneers in the area have contacted the Ky Board of Auctioneers and have communicated with Michael Gann, the investigator for them, however; nothing is being done about it. We've also contacted every local law enforcement agency and our county attorney and prosecuting attorney to no avail. Upon further research I've noticed quite a few of these illegal auctions taking place on facebook streaming videos in other areas. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and, if so, what their action was to relieve it. I'm at a complete loss for understanding why neither the board of auctioneers nor the local law enforcement will prosecute. If there is no enforcement of KRS 330 then why does it even exist. Further, if there is no enforcement then why should any auctioneer in the state of Kentucky pay for licensing, continuing education or the recovery fund? I am eager hear what other auctioneers think about this matter.
